Did you know that demand for electricity from data centers and artificial intelligence applications could more than double over the next three years? It’s true.
Apparently there’s a lot more we need to understand about sustainability, which is why we’re announcing our latest micro-survey to see where the cloud native community is with this critically important issue. (Take the survey.)
And, before or after taking the survey, please explore our Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for Environmental Sustainability, which is a comprehensive resource for both those experienced with the topic or those just getting started. The TAG wrote a great overview of Cloud Native Sustainability Week, which happened last October.
Also, pack your bags for Paris because KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2024 is going to take a hard look at sustainability including two keynotes – one on optimizing performance and sustainability for AI and another on how Deutsche Bahn built green IT – and an in-depth discussion of how to save the planet one Kubernetes cluster at a time, along with a number of other talks.
Sustainability is also going to be the focus of our first-ever hackathon, running from 19 March to 21 March during KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe. CloudNativeHacks will have challenges provided by the United Nations and will focus exclusively on advancing the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To participate in the hackathon, apply by 18 February.
Please take a moment to help us understand the sustainability challenges you’re facing and learn more about how organizations are tackling these issues. This is a quick 15-question survey and here’s a sneak peek of some of what we’re asking:
- Are you currently measuring your electric and CO2 footprints?
- Does the cloud play a role in your corporate sustainability efforts?
- How do you evaluate sustainability when it comes to a cloud provider’s data center?
Take the short survey here, and don’t forget to register for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2024.
