Happening on 19 March 2024 in Paris
Co-chairs: Austin Parker and Eduardo Silva
Observability Day Europe is an exciting reminder that the cloud native ecosystem has grown to be more than Kubernetes. There’s been explosive growth of projects like OpenTelemetry (OTel), Prometheus, and Fluent and now it’s clear observability is a core capability of cloud native systems. If you’ve wanted to understand how to make observability a first-class part of a cloud native strategy, this is the event for you!
Who will get the most out of attending Observability Day Europe?
Site reliability engineers (SREs), operations pros, platform engineers and anyone building a cloud native platform will find plenty to interest them during this event. Also, developers writing cloud native software would benefit from attending as well.
What is new and different this year?
This is the biggest Observability Day yet! We have two tracks this year meaning we have two times the number of talks. Expect to hear a lot about emerging observability technologies including Prometheus, Fluent, OTel, and eBPF. And get ready for many end user stories because we think it’s important to hear from organizations at all different stages of the observability journey.
What will the day look like?
We’ll be moving at a fast clip, starting with key observability project updates, major releases, and roadmap information. We’ve tried to set the talks up so that no matter your focus – like Prometheus or OTel – you won’t have to choose between the two. We’ll of course have lightning presentations, and there will be lunch “talk tables” so participants can have ad hoc conversations about what they’ve learned. Think of this as “birds of a feather” networking.
Should I do a bit of homework first?
It’s always good to have familiarity with what’s going on with OTel and Prometheus, of course, but we promise our speakers will be good about giving context and not rambling with lots of jargon. If you’ve heard of observability and are just getting started you’ll get something out of these talks – we’re going to have both deep dives and intro talks. Also, if you’re interested in contributing to these projects this is a great place to come as there will be a lot of maintainers presenting and attending.
Looking for community?
We are really excited about the growth of Observability Day Europe. It wouldn’t have been possible without the positive community response.
Contributed by co-chair Austin Parker, who has never been to Paris and is looking forward to doing the iconic things like a cruise on the Seine and enjoying great wine, cheese, and the cloud native community.
