Hello CNCF community!
Our permanent CNCF Code of Conduct Committee has been operating for eight months, so it’s time for us to share information about incidents we’ve handled in our community and respond to some frequently asked questions.
Our committee consists of 3 elected volunteer community members and 2 CNCF staff members (and several alternates from the community). Our committee was launched in October 2024, when we replaced the Interim Code of Conduct Committee (see the prior blog post about the new CoC structure in CNCF). Since then, we received 6 incident reports in the final quarter of 2023, and approximately a dozen incident reports in the first half of 2024. Most of these incidents have been resolved, but a few are currently under investigation. You can read summaries of the incidents we’ve resolved on our transparency reports web page.
We have received many questions from community members about the investigative process, why investigations sometimes take longer than expected, and how we determine consequences and remedies for a violation. Our Code of Conduct FAQs should answer these questions, and more, and we’ll continue to update the page as we receive more inquiries.
