April 1, 2025

London

We want attendees at BackstageCon to leave with a deeper understanding of the latest trends and use cases of Backstage. Last year, Backstage was the top CNCF project based on the number of end user commits. We aim to springboard from that success, by bringing together the Backstage community and sharing success stories, use cases, and the future of the Backstage project. BackstageCon has been in existence since 2022, where it made its debut at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America in Chicago

Who will get the most out of attending this event?

The BackstageCon agenda is suitable for all skill levels, but we think that anyone involved in platform engineering, developer portals, or those interested in improving developer productivity will make the most out of this event. For early adopters of Backstage, this event is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced users and contributors. Experienced Backstage users will find insights into the future of Backstage and can use this event as an excellent opportunity to network with other adopters.

What is new and different this year?

Lots of new topics are being covered this year! A big theme you’ll see is leveraging Backstage for cost savings, optimizing Backstage for different use cases, and an adopter panel led by Philips with representatives from H&M, Ikea, and Volvo Cars.

What will the day look like?

This event will kick off in the main room with a welcome from the chairs. We have a single track agenda starting with a session on Unlocking Backstage’s potential. Keynote sessions from our sponsors will lead into several exciting sessions on topics from instrumenting observability on Backstage to driving monorepo adoption. Before we break for lunch, we’ll have a panel discussion with Backstage adopters from Philips, H&M, Ikea, and Volvo Cars.

Our afternoon will include sessions led by contributors and adopters covering topics like Security and Event Monitoring, Argo Workflows and Backstage, upgrade strategies, and how one adopter has had success streamlining compliance. Our afternoon will wrap up with a few words from our program co-chairs before we all head out to enjoy the nightlife of London.

Should I do any homework first?

No prep work is required, but attendees may find it beneficial to catch up on the latest Backstage release change and review the following resources:
