The CNCF community is truly global; our contributors, members and ambassadors span the world. We invest heavily in community-driven initiatives to fuel sustained momentum, expansion, growth and adoption. Importantly, we continued to support DEI initiatives to ensure that the cloud native ecosystem is a welcoming place where everybody can thrive.
Join us at the DEI Community Hub at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe — a dedicated space to connect, learn, and celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility! The DEI Hub offers opportunities to engage with community groups, participate in allyship and advocacy workshops, or simply take a break during open hours.
We created this space to foster connections, and help attendees — especially those from underrepresented groups in open source — feel a sense of belonging at the conference. Large events can be overwhelming, but the DEI Community Hub is here to offer a familiar and supportive environment where you can meet new friends, share experiences, and build lasting connections within the cloud native community.
Don’t Miss the Community Gatherings!
We believe strong communities foster a feeling of belonging by providing opportunities for interaction, collaboration, and shared experiences. Gatherings are planned for those who identify as Women and non-binary, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), and LGBTQIA+ attendees on Wednesday April 2. These gatherings will include structured networking and brainstorming sessions focused on actionable steps to advance the community together. Search the schedule to find out more.
Explore the workshops
On Thursday April 3 and Friday April 4, the DEI Community Hub will be hosting a number of workshops – please join us for some or all of them!
Participants will explore practical strategies for becoming active bystanders, fostering a safer and more supportive environment. The workshop will equip attendees with self-coaching techniques for emotional regulation in challenging situations, alongside communication tools for effectively voicing concerns. By empowering individuals to challenge normalized poor behaviors, this training aims to cultivate a community where everyone feels heard and respected.
Your Voice on Stage: Creating Proposals That Get Noticed
Are you an underrepresented voice in cloud native looking to share your expertise on stage but need guidance on how to begin? We’re here to help! Join seasoned KubeCon + CloudNativeCon speakers, and past Program Committee members, for a practical session on crafting standout session proposals.
Learn how to choose compelling topics, structure a strong pitch, and highlight your unique perspective. Discover best practices for tailoring your proposal to the right audience, avoiding common mistakes, and increasing your chances of acceptance. We’ll also discuss the importance of amplifying diverse voices in tech and fostering a more inclusive speaker lineup.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Cloud Native
We have two events that will help make the cloud native community more accessible. First, join an open discussion led by members of the CNCF Deaf and Hard of Hearing Working Group to explore the unique challenges Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) individuals face, how these challenges impact collaboration and product design, and how you can help break down these barriers. Come with questions and leave with insights and actionable steps on how you can make a difference. Then take a fun and interactive Crash Course in Sign Language where you’ll get a quick introduction to sign language, learn essential terms —including some cloud native vocabulary—and gain insights into Deaf culture. No prior experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
Try Peer Group Mentoring
This is a great opportunity for attendees of all backgrounds and experience levels to meet with knowledgeable open source contributors from across the cloud native ecosystem. Mentors will pair with 2-10 mentees in a pod-like environment for wide-ranging conversations across technical, community, career, and certification topics.
