In 2020, Salt Security started to grow quickly and our platform needed to scale fast. That led to a few challenges including backward compatibility issues. To address that we moved to gRPC but, since load balancing gRPC connections aren’t supported by Kubernetes, we needed a solution for that as well. That’s when we stumbled over Linkerd which immediately solved the load balancing issue but also turned out to be much more. We instantly gained visibility, reliability, and security, and the efficiency and performance of our platform increased after just one week. During this session, we (Salt Security’s platform engineers) will share our Linkerd journey and how it has made our day-to-day work a lot easier.
